A song a student can sing is a song they'll remember. Synced lyric videos give you controlled pacing, visible text, and repetition without the class getting bored. Here's a lesson-ready workflow.
Choose songs you can legally show
Use public-domain folk songs, songs with educational licenses, or recordings your school already owns rights to. Many language-learning publishers sell instrumentals with classroom licenses. Your own recording of a traditional song is the simplest route.
Build a 'Lesson' preset
- Larger type than you think.
- Active line in one color, next line dimmed.
- Optional second lane for a translation, dimmed — D107's singer lanes work nicely for this.
Build the video
- Drop the audio and a one-line-per-phrase lyric sheet.
- Proof verse one — for lessons, err on cueing lines a touch earlier so readers have more lookahead.
- Export MP4.
Lesson structure that works
- Listen — play the video once, no singing.
- Read along — play again, students read aloud with the wipe.
- Sing — third pass, everyone sings.
- Gap fill — build a second version with a few lines blanked in the sheet (
_____) and let them fill in.
The blanked version takes two minutes: edit the text sheet, re-sync, export.
